We are delighted to display the work of local talented artists who convey their love of the natural beauties of the South West through their work.
SWAc, MA Arts & Ecology, BA (Hons) Fine Art.
Jane uses painting to honour the beauty that is our landscape - largely based on the South West, but also her travels abroad and at home.
Jane’s ongoing narrative of being alive and in our great landscape is cross-referenced in her mind to the struggles and the hardship of the world in which we live, and the words below echo her desire to bring some delight to her audience: “ The pleasure of pretty art draws on dissatisfaction: if we did not find life difficult, beauty would not have the appeal it does”.
(Art is Therapy, Alain de Botton and John Armstrong).
Jane was a graphic designer for 20+ years, but now has a fine art practice and teaches art to adults. She is an academician of the South West Academy for Fine Art and lives and works near Bovey Tracey.

Sophie Berger is a professional artist, based in Devon. Her work has a strong connection to her bucolic Dartmoor surrounding. Her paintings translate constantly changing landscapes awash with colour, horizons and the vast openness she embraces during her walks on the Moors. Using oil paint on canvas, Sophie exhibits both nationally and internationally, and her work is currently presented in galleries around Bristol, Cambridge and the Cotswolds.
She has also completed many commissions over the last few years, both in the UK, Europe and Australia.
